PHILIPS 2514

The 2514 wireless set was designed by Art Deco artist Louis Kalff, and manufactured in Hilversum from 1928. It has a mains transformer for either 127 or 225 volt. There are three tuning ranges: 200-400, 300-700 and 600-1500 metres. The set employs TRF with regeneration, which requires the adjustment of two variable capacitors and a variometer for regenerative feedback. The user has to write down the position of the two 180˚ dials on the capacitors to find the stations. The metal housing has an black artificial leather covering. Components are tightly packed. The set was clearly not designed with maintenance in mind!

I have two 2514 sets, one of them with a colourful Philips type 2007 bakelite speaker (pancake). All is working well.
