ATEA 1949
Type 1949 is a telephone with one external line and up to 5 internal lines that are connected in series. It requires an external bell to receive a call from the exchange. For internal use it has a DC buzzer and it requires a battery. It was produced by ATEA in Antwerp (Automatique Electrique Anvers SA). The body is a zinc casting, the handset is made from bakelite. In the 1970s many of these telephones were converted for use as a standard telephone. The original black paint was removed which revealed a thin copper layer.
