The Berliner brothers manufactured telephones in their Hannover factory (TEFAG) from the late 1890s.

I have a TEFAG housetelephone with a handset. It has a DC buzzer or trembler instead of a bell. A call button closes the loop of a local or shared battery and the remote telephone or switchboard.
