CHAPPE SEMAPHORE
In 1793 the Frenchman Claude Chappe introduced his semaphore. He could send coded information between towers, 15 kilometres apart. The towers were equipped with masts, where arms could be moved at certain angles. The position of the arms represented letters and numbers.
I built a small model of the semaphore, using Meccano elements, three servomotors and a microcontroller.
