TEKTRONIX 2710
My Tektronix 2710 is a portable, compact spectrum analyser with a range from 10 kHz to 1.8GHz. The device uses the same superheterodyne principle as a modern radio. The incoming RF signal is mixed with the signal from a sweeping voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). The input spectrum is thereby translated to let it pass through selectable bandpass filters. The filtered signal is detected and processed through a logarithmic amplifier to display the amplitude in decibels. The instrument has a digital storage to hold the spectral data and display settings.
A spectrum analyser is a useful instrument for fault finding and calibration of radios and television sets. Here the display shows the spectrum of a 10 MHz square wave.
